Satan was the favourite son of God and is a recurring symbol in religion thats been adapted by worldly institutions over the span of milennia : "the disobedient son who gets punished by the allmighty father"

the "Lucifer" is a recurring symbol too , in more ancient religions from before jesus created the world , stealing the secrets from the gods and giving it to the humans, forever punished for that

i spent nine years of my life in catholic schools ... the roman side probably not the same bible as yours, i found it very un-interesting past the old testament really ... all edits by roman emperors who started to call themselves pope at a certain time :)
