Hi Hivers in the ecoTrain community, I have just joined an activity to support the local ethnic people in reforestation that I would like to introduce to everyone today. The purpose of this activity is to raise the awareness of forest protection of the local people and to green the barren hills around Mang Den. Mang Den is a potential future tourist destination thanks to its cool climate and beautiful nature. So together with the development of tourism, we want to protect the forest resources of this area. That is also one of the purposes of this activity.
In the past, with the practice of shifting cultivation, local ethnic people often moved from one area to another. And in the process, they often clear forests to build houses and grow crops. Today, this custom has gradually disappeared when the government calls on ethnic minorities to stabilize their lives. However, deforestation sometimes still takes place for their livelihood. Therefore, with afforestation activities like this, we hope to help raise their awareness of forest protection. We prepared seedlings, guided and directly planted trees with them.
This activity also helps to green the existing barren hills and contributes to the conservation and preservation of primeval forests in Mang Den which is an invaluable treasure to attract tourists to the area. With planned new planting, we hope to create colorful hills with big green trees and colorful flower gardens in the future. I will keep you updated about this.
We are young people of Mang Den land, we have raised funds to buy seedlings to give to ethnic people. Together with them, we went up the hill to plant those seedlings. The weather on the day we planted the trees was not good, it had been raining since early morning, which made the dirt road up the hills slippery. The ground becomes sticky and makes our steps heavy. Look at the photos below, our shoes and sandals were so dirty, some people even took off their shoes to go barefoot. But that did not stop our determination.
To get to the top of the hill, we went up slippery slopes, and then beautiful primeval forests. I hope we will forever keep the beauty of this forest. Before setting foot in the area where we had planned to plant trees, the members of our team were assigned tasks and learned tree planting techniques. Then the members were divided into small groups to work together with the local ethnic people. I must say that the local ethnic people were very supportive in this activity. They fully understood the benefits and purpose of this activity. Compared to us, they even dig holes and plant trees faster than us.
Although the rain made it difficult for our plants to grow, it also provided favorable conditions for the growth of the seedlings. We had to wear raincoats during the planting. Sometimes the fog even limited our visibility. Overcoming all those difficulties, we were happy when the seedlings were planted in the ground. After planting, we asked the locals to take care of these trees after we left. I will definitely come back to this place in the future to check the condition of these trees. I will look forward to the day when this whole hill will be covered with the flowers we planted today.
After that activity, I felt very happy because I had contributed a small part to raising the awareness of forest protection of the local people and developing tourism in the area. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and have a nice day.
