Hello everyone, I wish you a new week full of energy. What did you do last weekend? I had a great weekend with my friends. We just finished Tet Holiday and it's the perfect time to have a camping trip with friends before getting back to work. And we chose to camp in a deep forest in Quang Nam province. In fact, we wouldn't have known about this place if a friend of our group hadn't brought us here. Okay, follow us on this trip.
We departed from Da Nang in the morning to visit a friend of ours in Dai Lanh commune, Dai Loc district, Quang Nam province. Actually, that day was his grandmother's death anniversary. In Vietnam we consider the death anniversary an important day for family members to reunite and remember those who have died. Then he talked about a beautiful natural spot near his place and luckily it was Saturday so we all decided to have a camping trip together. We quickly planned and went shopping to prepare for our camping trip at a local market.
The camping site is a river deep in the forest next to a mini hydroelectricity called Song Cung hydroelectricity and Song Cung is also the name of this river. The road to get here is not too difficult because the government has supported the construction of roads for hydropower and afforestation here. However, this is still a relatively unspoiled area as it is not popular with tourists and only occasionally locals come here to herd cows, collect firewood or plant forests. True to its name, Song means river and Cung means remote. There wasn't even a phone signal there.
We arrived at the campsite around 4pm. We were all very excited when we arrived at the camping spot because it's been a long time since we went camping and because the place is so beautiful. Immediately after packing up at a very simple cottage we had rented from locals, we were eager to get around to explore the area. It was a rocky river, we came in the dry season so there wasn't much water. Climbing the big rocks was also quite tough, but it did not reduce our enjoyment because of the majestic beauty of nature. We even enjoyed taking pictures with a large rock in the middle of the river.
I have to admit it's very clean there. Since it is located far from residential areas and few people know about it, there is no garbage there. The water there is even turquoise. After about 1 hour exploring the surrounding natural beauty, taking pictures and breathing in the fresh air, we returned to our cottage. The cottage we slept in was on a small oasis surrounded by water. There is a small pond created by the flow of the river right in front of our tent, which also became our ideal swimming pool. The water there is really clear and cool.
It was getting dark quickly, so we only had time to enjoy the pool before preparing dinner. Since we were camping in the forest, we only brought simple kitchen items such as knives, pots and kettles. We also carry only simple foods such as noodles for boiling, pork, sausages and corn for grilling. Plus, my friend went around picking some more wild vegetables, we didn't know what they were, but we trusted him because he's a local there. We also used the river water for cooking because the water there is very clean. And beer is an indispensable part for a perfect camping meal. Although, the food is quite simple, but we had a great dinner. There is nothing more wonderful than having dinner with friends by the fire, in the middle of nature and no phone, no internet.
After a wonderful dinner, we gathered at the tent to eat some fruit and play cards. We played blackjack. Whoever loses will have his or her face painted. And the material that we used to paint the faces of the losers was the soot of the pot we used to cook dinner. This is the game we used to play when we were kids. But until now it still brings us a lot of joy. We were all losers and we all got painted on our faces, but we were all winners and had a good time together. We played until almost 1am, and then we went to sleep.
Waking up in a far away place, listening to the running water, listening to the birds singing, watching the beautiful nature around are things that we cannot do every day. Some of us, myself included, were eager to get up earlier than usual to enjoy the atmosphere. Then we gathered together to prepare breakfast. It's still a simple breakfast with instant noodles and wild vegetables. But somehow everyone found it delicious and ate it all without leaving anything in the pot. We then drank coffee and chatted before going around exploring, taking pictures and playing childhood games like blowing soap bubbles and throwing rocks on the water see whose stone pops over on the water more . Until almost noon, we went back to the tent to pack our backpacks, clean up the camping spot and return to Da Nang city to prepare for a new working week.
We had a great weekend with our friends in nature with no phones and no internet. I hope you enjoy our camping trip too. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and have a great week ahead!
