My eldest son is participating in this event on Saturday. I am proud of him. I am proud of all my sons, but this is special.
In an iron man event, first they begin by swimming 2.4 miles. This is done in a lake. The swimmers must all begin together, so there are no lanes. This is a race.
After the swim comes a bike ride. What could be nicer than 112 miles in the foothills of the mountains? There are no flatlands here. The good news is the previous swim has thinned the crowd. The bike route does the same.
Lastly the racers enjoy a brisk run of 22.6 miles.
In my youth, I was never in this kind of physical condition. Hence I am proud of my 38 year old son! He has been preparing, yet I pray he survives.
This is a photo from the past after my sons finished a marathon in Austin.
Can you choose the two who have subsequently participated in an iron man race?
