I think I’ve only been to Ohanami once on Tokyo at Yoyogi, exciting times. You are right, seeing the cherry blossoms never gets old and they do revitalize the soul to help you carry on in the new work year. Spring feels like the real new year here, so much changes.

On a different note, I heard Japan may be out of cherry blossoms in a few decades as the ones around now are very old and they only live for a century or so. Heard that the government doesn’t want to foot the bill and the organizations that handled the growing and distribution are dwindling away (aka the young have better things to do). I also heard that the initial use for cherry blossoms was to help land near rivers stay firm and not erode. There used to be actual cherries 🍒 on those trees, but the scientist did their thing for the purpose of beauty and safety ( from the rivers ).
