WHAAAGWAAN?
I hope all is IRIE in your world.
Today I want to talk about What to post on ReggaeSteem?
Well it is really quite simple. Anything to do with Reggae music and the culture.
May the Tags be with you
We have created tags to give an idea of what to post about. But a general guideline is: If it fits within reggae and Jamaican culture, it is good to go.
Below is a list of the tags we have set for Reggaesteem in order to categorize content. More tags will be added as need arises. The #JAHM tag will be automatically generated when you post from the ReggaeSteem interface, so add another appropriate tag from the list below. But if you are posting from another interface and it is reggae related content, use #JAHM to get it cross posted to ReggaeSteem.io.
When posting from another interface, be sure to use #Jahm and another category you think your content fits into.
The tag #FIWI means Ours in Jamaican Patois. It is a tag you can use when your content is Reggae related but doesn't fall under any of the categories below.
jahm | reggaesteem | afrobeatz | albums | calypso | classical | culture | dance | dancehall | dubstep | events | international | introduceyourself | fiwi | fashion | fusion | newmusic | reggae | reggaeton | retro | reviews | ska | travel | sports | food
What most are posting on ReggaeSteem now
For most people using the platform at this time, embedding youtube videos of their favorite songs is a popular type of post. For best practice, don't just post a video link, be sure to give some context around the song. Who the singer is, why you like them/song, what it means to you etc, it is up to you, but the context for the consumer is important. You can even review the song and give your opinion. The point is, it is good practice to give some personal input about the song.
A good example can be found here by @cflclosers . He writes a full 5 paragraph about the song and the artiste. The rest is his "My Reggae Steem Journey" template. Now you don't have to go into as much detail as @cflclosers ( I personal love the detail as it is educational), but context is important.
Be sure to link the source of the song under the embed. This way the link will show up in interfaces like Partiko and the post will be giving credits to the source.
For a Reggae musician ( that includes Dancehall ska, dub, Afro beats, fusion, reggaeton), posting your songs and giving context as well as sharing links to where your songs can be streamed/purchased is a no brainer.
Hmmm but what can I vlog about on ReggaeSteem?
@jeronimorubio does a good job of creating content that fits into the ReggaeSteem realm. He asks questions and gives his opinion by sharing. In this video I just saw, he asked the question "What Reggae Songs Fill You with Positive Energy Powerful Enough to Lift Your Spirits & Get You to the Next Level in Life?" . You could reply to him in video form:)
For musicians ( artists, producer, DJ) who do any form of reggae or fusion, post your performance videos, freestyles, mixing , playing your instrument etc.
You can even review a song in your vlog and have the song playing in the background ( or just linked down below in the post as copyright laws may get your video muted- on YouTube).
Going to a reggae event or restaurant? Make a vlog! Interested in going to a certain place in Jamaica, make a vlog about why. The possibilities are endless.
But I just wanna post pics
And that is fine, but again make sure the pics have something to do with reggae ( yes weed has something to do with reggae). But make sure to mainly post personal pics/designs, and if you do use someones' work, please link the source. ( Please post high quality pics heheheh we want things to look GOOD for those on the outside looking in)
( This was my actual pic I took in Jamaica)
Really the possibilities are endless.
I saw a post from @mistakili highlighting some news abut 50 cent's Instagram post of his Photoshoped Bob Marley stint. He quoted the original source, but also gave his personal opinion. News and "happenings" makes good content. See his post here.
Another cool post I saw yesterday was by @depot69. He went into detail about the Jamaican film "The harder they come" staring Jimmy Cliff. He even went as far as to post the video for the movie, and the soundtrack embed. He even posted the lyrics out to the main single " The harder they come". See the post here
The tag I personally want to see built up/ OR if you run out of ideas. #newmusic
Now, I personally love all Reggae music, from back then to now. But my preferred choice is the latest in Reggae and Dancehall. I like to hear what is new and give my opinion. Also this tag is important as it makes it easy to attract people in the target market, most of whom are looking for the latest. We can easily post these to other social media and get attention with the titles like this. well something like this, I am no pro....
Jamaican Beauty "Sevana" releases her latest Single NoBody man ( ReggaeSteem Review)
Here is a link to a post I made actually reviewing the song
You can find the latest by doing a YouTube Search such as "Reggae Music July 2019 " , "New Dancehall July 2019" Etc.
Your Journey here on ReggaeSteem is whatever you want to make it ( as long as it is about Reggae:). The above are just some ideas and guidelines for those who may not be sure what to post about, or may be new to the culture but would like to get involved. I am enjoying the content all the ReggaeSteem community is making.
Phew that was long. Have an IRIE time on ReggaeSteem. If you have never tried posting here, well what are you waiting for :)
