It's kind of funny that as one of D&D's most Iconic spells, it's also generally considered one of the worst.

Mind you, it's very hard to find an actual bad spell, but I don't know if there is an argument to be made that this one is anything but sub-obtimal (More useful as at higher levels when your level 1 spells don't see much use anymore).
