I think you are referring to TCG Pocket as the game app. I guess TCG Pocket is a contributing factor to increased interest in the physical Pokemon TCG. Nostalgia of Pikachu for Surging Sparks set (Nov 2024) and Eevee cards for Prismatic Evolutions (Jan 2025) has really increased the demand. This increased demand has almost doubled prices of booster boxes and packs.

Pre-orders are sold out fast too. Scalpers have entered this space. I've heard they stopped scalping shoes and have entered the Pokemon TCG space. It is wild.

As I am a player I am not too concerned about master collections. I have pivoted to cutting back on spending, doing pre-release events and buying single cards.
