Hi. This is a short Pokemon TCG post here.
There are card reveals from Japan's Storm Emeralda set to be released on July 31, 2026. The English version of the cards come in the Delta Reign set in November 6, 2026. This rare gap is just over 3 months between the Japan set and the English set.
This new version of Sableye is a 80HP Basic Dark Pokemon.
Lure Out for 1 Dark Energy does not deal damage. You reveal the top 5 cards of the opponent's deck. Then you choose any number of Basic Pokemon you find there and put them onto their Bench. The opponent shuffles the other cards back into their deck.
Sinister Eyes for 1 Dark Energy and 1 Colorless Energy lets you place 5 damage counters to 1 of the opponent's Pokemon (Active or Benched). 50 damage is not much but you can place 5 damage counters to a Benched Pokemon.
Inkay is a 60 HP Basic Dark Pokemon. The Knock Off attack for 1 Dark Energy deals a measly 10 damage. You do get to discard 1 card from the opponent's hand. If you get lucky, you may discard a useful and non-recoverable card.
Inkay is not a strong attack but it is needed for...
Commenters on Pokebeach are saying that this Mega Malamar ex is bad. I don't know though.
Mega Malamar is a 320 HP Stage 1 Mega Dark Pokemon that evolves from Inkay. It has a two retreat cost and Grass weakness.
The first attack, Psychic Marionettes, requires 2 Dark Energy. This attack does 70 damage for each of your opponent's Benched Pokemon. If the opponent has 3 Benched Pokemon then this attack does 210 damage which knocks out most Basic Pokemon. Four Benched Pokemon on the opponent's side results in 280 damage. Five leads to 350 damage which is getting into one hit Knockout territory.
If the opponent has more than 5 Benched Pokemon with Area Zero Underdepths in play, then the Mega Malamar first attack can deal at least 420 damage. (420 from 6 Benched Pokemon from the opponent)
Eerie Pulse for 3 Dark Energy deals 200 damage plus it makes the opponent's Active Pokemon Confused. This attack won't be used much due to the high energy requirement and 200 is not that much damage.
Mega Malamar ex in theory can be a super dangerous attack if the opponent has a lot of Benched Pokemon. Its grass weakness is an issue as Grass decks do exist. Grass decks are not as popular as the 50% metagame share of Dragapult ex but something like Hydrapple ex + Meganium is a top 5 deck.
On July 7, 2026, Jirachi ex has been revealed. This card is for the 30th anniversary set to release on September 16, 2026.
This Jirachi ex is a weak Pokemon ex.
The Swift attack requires 3 of any Energy to deal 150 damage. This attack is not affected by weakness, resistance of any effects on the opponent's Active Pokemon.
The first attack of Wish Granter requires 1 Colourless Energy so you can draw cards until you have 7 cards in hand. Wish Granter is not much more powerful than the attacks from Deoxys or Audino.
Thank you for reading.
