Key Cards
Mega Greninja ex
Mega Greninja ex is a Stage 2 Mega Water Pokemon ex. It evolves from Frogadier. This has a 1 retreat cost, Lightning weakness, one ability and one attack.
The Mortal Shuriken ability only works when this Mega Greninja ex is in the Active Spot. You may discard 1 Basic Water Energy from your hand to place 6 damage counters on 1 of your opponent's Pokemon (Active or Benched).
Ninja Spinner requires 2 Water Energy for its attack. The base damage is 120 with an option to deal 200 damage if you put 1 Water Energy attached to Mega Greninja ex into your hand. It is possible to deal 260 damage with Mega Greninja ex. (200 damage plus ability for 6 damage counters)
Mega Starmie ex
Mega Starmie ex is a Stage 1 Water Mega Pokemon ex. It is the evolved form of Staryu.
This has 330 HP, a two retreat cost and Lightning weakness. The first attack, Jetting Blow, requires 1 Water Energy to deal 120 damage to the Active Spot plus 50 damage to 1 of the opponent's Benched Pokemon.
Nebula Beam is the second attack from Mega Starmie ex. For 3 of any energy, this Nebula Beam attack deals 210 damage plus it ignores Weakness, Resistance or any effects to the opponent's Active Pokemon. Nebula Beam is not used much but it is good against walls like Crustle and Bastiodon which are not common but are effective in the modern metagame.
Lillie's Determination, Poke Pad, Dawn, Surfing Beach
Lillie's Determination and Poke Pad are modern staple cards in every deck.
Dawn is good for Stage 2 evolution decks as you can get 1 Basic Pokemon, 1 Stage 1 Pokemon and 1 Stage 2 Pokemon.
Surfing Beach is a good Stadium card to switch Water attackers. This is also good with Mega Greninja ex's ability that works in the Active Spot.
Strategy
As Mega Greninja ex is the main attacker, you want to work your way up to Mega Greninja ex. You can use Mega Starmie ex as an early game attacker and then setup towards Mega Greninja ex at the back.
You want to spread damage around with the Starmie and Greninja to get multiple knockouts.
Surfing Beach is good for moving Water Pokemon around. Use Mega Greninja ex's ability in the Active Spot, use Surfing Beach to switch to a new Water Pokemon attacker.
Judge and Special Red Card is for hand disruption and to limit the opponent's hand size.
Pros & Cons
Pros
Mega Starmie ex is a good early game attacker that puts pressure on the opponent in the early game.
Rare Candy is helpful with fast setups towards Mega Greninja ex.
Water attackers are good against Fire attackers.
Cons
As this is a Water deck, Lightning attackers hit your Water Pokemon for double damage. Losing a Mega Evolution Pokemon ex gives up 3 Prizes for the opponent.
Both the Mega Greninja ex and Mega Starmie ex don't have one hit Knockout power at 250 damage or more. You have to play carefully when spreading damage and attacking.
Setting up towards Mega Greninja ex may take time. The Froakies are vulnerable in the early game.
Other Attackers / Alternative Cards To Use
There are different ways to play Mega Greninja ex. The product here is suggesting Mega Starmie ex as a secondary attacker. Other attackers/Pokemon that can be used are:
- Mega Froslass ex
- Tera Greninja ex (Fighting)
- Dusknoir
- Dudunsparce Draw Engine with an Optional Dudunsparce ex
- N's Zoroark ex Package
- Blaziken ex
Do add Buddy Buddy Poffins for more Basic Pokemon search.
One card to include is Fezandipiti ex as a draw engine. It is a staple card until the 2027 rotation (maybe in April).
A popular ACE SPEC for Greninja ex decks is Grand Tree. Although Grand Tree is not a popular ACE SPEC in general, it fits really well in Greninja ex decks.
A few more cards to consider are Colress's Tenacity, Switch, Night Stretcher, Hilda, Wally's Compassion, Budew, Tool Scrapper, and Bubbly Water Energy.
Closing Notes
This Mega Greninja ex League Battle Deck is an okay product. The Trainer cards in this product are highly usable in many decks and you get one Meowth ex.
The Pokemon in this deck are not awful but are not great in today's metagame as of September 2026. Greninja decks are considered rogue and are not contenders for large tournaments. The deck may be okay in local tournaments though. Mega Greninja ex could be one of those decks where it is not good now but maybe good in a new format.
If you want a deck product that is good now and in the future, I would choose the Mega Lucario ex Battle deck over Greninja. Mega Lucario ex is not the best deck out there and is not played much. I do see potential in it being good in a future format around April 2027 when the H cards go away in standard play.
