The ruleset for this week's challenge

image.png

  • Odd Ones Out - Only units with odd mana costs may be used (Summoners are not affected by this rule)

The ruleset that I managed to get

image.png

  • Rulesets - Odd Ones Out & What Doesn't Kill You
  • Mana Cap - 41
  • Active Elements - Fire, Water, Earth, Death & Dragon

Here's my starting lineup

Summoner: Immortalis

  • In this battle choosing summoner was quite hard decision for me as I learned from my last challenge I don't have enough odd mana cost monsters
  • But the time was ticking down and I decided to go with earth summoner, next challenge was picking either Immortalis or Mylor Crowling as I didn't know if my enemy was going to play melee for magic
  • Even tho Odd Ones Out ruleset was active it dosen't affect summoners so I was able to play 6 mana Immortalis as my summoner and I went with it hoping my enemy would play at least some magic attack monsters
1st Position: Fungus Flinger

  • He was the last monster that I picked for this team and as I had 3 mana left and not a good monster to play I decided to play Fungus Flinger for his Martyr ability to buff my Pelacor Mercenary who was in the 1st position
  • Martyr - When a unit with the martyr ability dies in a battle, it gives adjacent characters +1 to all stats
  • Also my Pelacor Mercenary had two speed so my idea was that Fungus Flinger would die before it was Pelacor Mercenary turn to attack so he wouldn't tank and hits and also get a hit off himself in the 1st round
2nd Position: Pelacor Mercenary

  • He was my main tank and damage dealer sadly I had to play only level 3 version of him as I don't have high enough level summoners to play even tho I own Pelacor Mercenary max card
  • This I found out later was in my opinion the reason the battle went the way it went as Pelacor Mercenary is quite weak level 3, his main power spike kicks in at level 6 when he gets heal
3rd Position: Centauri Mage

  • Main reason to play Centauri Mage here was hers Return Fire abilty coupled with hers 9 hp so she serves as second tank in my team
  • Return Fire - When hit with a ranged attack, unit with return fire will return reduced damage back to their attacker
4th Position: Uraeus

  • One of my favorite cards in game as of date
  • Just a simple level 2 reward epic gives you 2 melee, 2 speed, 1 armor and 2 hp with Sneak for only 3 mana
  • Sneak - Targets the last unit on the enemy Team instead of the first unit
5th Position: Mushroom Seer

  • Absolutely love this card for his Silence ability
  • Silence - Reduces the magic attack of all enemy units
  • Also 2 magic attack is quite alright for 5 mana
6th Position: Sand Worm

  • And for the last one in the lineup is Sand Worm
  • Also a great card with Sneak and 5 melee but he also has 6 hp so he was perfect for my team to sit in the back and tank if my enemy decided to play Sneak cards himself

Here's how the battle went

1st Round

image.png

  • After 1st Round my plan had worked, my Fungus Flinger died in first two hits buffing my Pelacor Mercenary
  • Also going with Immortalis as my summoner to grant my team void and also going Mushroom Seer with Silence worked out great but as the battle continued it became certain it wasn't enough
2nd Round

image.png

  • After 2nd round my team was looking quite sad and I didn't have a lot of hope left
  • Even tho I managed to kill his tank in the second round he still had both of his Resurrect ability for him and he got revived with 6 shield so it was quite clear I had lost the battle
3rd Round

image.png

  • After the 3rd round I still wasn't able to kill any of his monsters
  • I had lost almost my whole team
4th Round

image.png

  • In the last round and really the whole battle I just got totally obliterated
  • Battle Replay Link

Summary

  • I felt moderately good about this battle in the team builder but my confidence slowly decreased as rounds were played out and I wasn't being able to kill any of my enemy's monsters
  • But I have to be honest he really did have a good team
  • You just can't win every battle
