Hello Steemiters.
I stumbled across this site while looking for alternative (read: not Facebook) social media sites. Steemit looks pretty interesting. I created an account and I'm slowly getting it put together. I've been lurking about for the last few days trying to get a handle on what steemit is about. I really like what I see. I really like the wide variety of articles that appear. So far, I totally don't get what the whole Steem thing is about but I'm not too worried. I'll figure it out sooner or later.
About myself: I'm a person. That makes me a unique and very complex thing to describe, full of contradictions and confusion, but I'll give it a shot.
I am a "chronologically mature" male, meaning I got older but never quite got the hang of "growing up". I was raised in New Jersey and currently live in north Texas. I'm married with two children and a wonderful wife. I have a full time job in a kind of stable career.
Here are some of my interests:
- Christianity: I have accepted Jesus as my savior and enjoy bible study. The bible is an amazing book.
- Music: that includes Classical, Baroque, Jazz, Blues, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Contemporary Christian. I'm not into Rap, Hip Hop, or Country. (I know! I live in Texas and don't like Country music - How do I survive?)
- Music (again): I am a musician and songwriter. I play, guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, saxophone, drums all to varying levels of success. I like to write my own music and record it.
- Aviation: On a whim I took lessons and got a private pilots license.
- Politics: I'm mostly very conservative but I am at the same time very libertarian. I ran for political office once.
- Computers: I am a professional web developer. I thrive in the back end where servers talk to each other and databases work. I write mostly in PHP and PERL. I have a pretty good handle on JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. I'm less than ninja level but very good with SQL.
- Motorcycles: I like to ride my Honda Shadow 1100.
- Family: I am married with two children. My children are both grown and married themselves. To say I'm proud of them would be a gross understatement.
- Science: I find science fascinating. I love to read articles about astronomy, biology, physics, anthropology, etc.
- Dozens of other subjects that make me who I am.
So I hope to post some original music and write some articles about things that interest me. I'm not much of a writer and I have been accused of being very terse. So you can look forward to short but hopefully meaningful posts from me. I look forward to meeting many of you and getting to know you as I find my way around steemit.
