Wolves can re-arrange the eco-system

Wolves can shape the eco-system and geography of the land they live on. When wolves were reintroduced into the Yellowstone National Park in 1995 - after a 70 year absence, trees started to grow fast, animal populations increased and rivers changed their behaviour because of the new vegetation. This helped drastically in reducing erosin.

There are no Alpha Wolves

In a Wolfpack there is no such thing as an "Alpha". An early studay that coined the term "Alpha Wolf" had only ovserved unrelated adult wolves living in captivity. In the wildness, wolves operate more like humans: there's no definied sense of rank. Parents are in charge until Kids grow up and start their own families.

Younger wolves don't overthrow the "Alpha" to become the new leader - social dominance fights are only situational.

Werner Freund - The Wolf Whisperer

The German "Werner Freund" was once the leader of a real wolfpack.

He spent decades walking freely among his sanctuary of 29 wild wolves, which all viewed him as their leader. His goal was to rid people of their negative preassumptions of the animal. He felt, you're more likely to die from meeting a werewolf than from meeting a real one!
