At these context I want us to examined the word vigil through the book of psalm
"Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in the word" Psalm 119:148.
Vigils are usually associated with all night prayer
馃憠 We find churches all over the place on Fridays praying through the night. That is all most of us know about vigils. But from our anchor scripture we get an idea of a different type of vigil. 馃憠馃憠Today again you鈥檒l see why David was such a powerful person. The secret of men are in their stories.
NOTE馃憞
This man will spend a whole night meditating on the word of God. He was not just a prayer warrior, but a word warrior.
馃憣The word of God is God contact point with man.
馃憠In it we find the plans and purpose for our lives unfolded.
馃憠In God鈥檚 word we find direction for our journey in life.
Recently I read the story of a Chief executive officer of a multinational telecommunication company how he was able to discover how to run the company in so many nations from the story of Moses in the book of Exodus. The word of God can handle any area of our lives. The challenge with us is that most of us have never given the word of God an undivided attention.
The word of God is the answer to every human question. It鈥檚 God鈥檚 instruction manual for our lives.
Think about this馃憞
The attention we give to God鈥檚 word is the attention that God gives to us.
馃憠 If you don鈥檛 take the words of a man serious then you have not taken the man serious.
Word vigil is a practice in which we stay up in the night to read and meditate in the word of God.
Need for this馃憞
It鈥檚 usually a period of the day that distractions are minimal. Our focus will be better at this period of the day.
Spending quality time in the word is spending time with God. Nothing is as edifying and enriching like spending quality time in the word of God. It doesn鈥檛 have to be reading so much, but rather picking a portion of the scripture that we meditate upon over and over again until the virtues in it are released into our spirit on a daily basis. Practice this it will change your life. And move you more close to God on daily bases
CONFESSION:
The word of God is taking over my spirit. I am completely under the influence of the word of God.
