If you're like me, you have a very limited knowledge of After Effects. Not only is it cumbersome, but none of it is real time last I checked. So, if I ever have to do a visual effect, I try to do it in Premiere because it's all real time, so it's much faster.
I hate doing VFX so much that if I can, I'll write them out of any story I'm trying to write and produce. VFX is best handled with money and a team of real artists as opposed to my hack-jobbery.
