This is just tyranny by another name. In the 20th century, they called it Scientific Socialism and it led to the murder of tens of millions. Widespread starvation. Crushing oppression. Vast ignorance. Socialism promised the same damn things. Plenty for all, a planned life, harmonious future. etc. I know people who fled Cuba and others who fled Poland. They are / were nightmares. People left behind by the rest of the world you so easily deride as ecocidal. A world so advanced that for all its promises, scientific socialism would never be able to achieve the level of wealth, health and finally the sustainability people can actually achieve via market forces AND cooperative egalitarian behavior. These two things are not mutually exclusive.
Individualism relies on cooperation as much as it does competition. You cannot have a society without cooperation, but you can't have advancement and freedom without competition. Individualists and individual know this. You're just using hyperbole to eliminate the nuance liberal, individualist societies possess, where people choose their own lives, instead of how you think society should be run. Some choose hedonism, while others choose enlightenment. Some choose to make art, while others scientific advancements. It is a vast, complex ecosystem no collective could design and no government could handle.
It's possible to allow individualism to flourish and protect the environment. Creating this false dichotomy between individualism hell and collectivist salvation is religious thinking that reduces people to sacrificial lambs, anted up for the slaughter to the good of the whole.
The problem, is that you don't know what is for the good of the whole, nor do you know what is good for every individual, which is why it is best to leave these decisions up to the individuals that need to make them.
And then you use the word "evolution" in a way that only means towards what you think we should be. That's not how evolution works. Evolution is a process of natural selection. We don't have much control over that. Sorry to break it to you, but when you use the word evolution, you're not saying much. I think what you mean is compulsion. Compulsion towards a world that needs to be engineered towards a goal that you believe is enlightened.
These wonderful goals will need to be implemented at the end of a rifle. Why? Because like you said, people probably aren't going to do what you want, and when that fails and your plans fail and the green, collectivist enlightenment never comes, what will you do then?
I think you'll suggest it should be imposed, without question.
