Anti-Abuse Team Weekly Report #5

Friday - September 29th - 2017

Again, we're going to be sticking almost entirely to the stats this week. There was only one update outside of that, and I have posted about it already. I will only briefly talk about it here.

The details of this weeks prune of the member-list -

4770 Members before this week's prune was run. (254 new accounts since last week)
30 Day Prune has removed 199 dead accounts. (37 more were removed this Prune)
This leaves our count at 4571 Members after the prune.
~426 Concurrent users online at 20:30 EST (+3.1% from previous)

Updated stats on Bans and Blacklist -

748 Discord bans (+55 new from previous)
423 accounts in total are now Blacklisted by @minnowsupport (+30 from previous)

But, what does it mean? -

There wasn't much movement in any direction on any of the stats this week. I am not sure yet if this indicates a stagnation, but I am hearing that the general stats for steemit are matching fairly well with this. So we are growing about as fast as Steemit is for now.

In summary:

This week, the new ability of me as Team Lead to directly make changes on the @minnowsupport account (as detailed in this post), has made things faster. I am now able to quickly handle any abusers and slow them down on attempts to register new accounts and get an upvote off via the bots before I can prevent it. Between this and increased cooperation with @Steemcleaners, I feel we are really getting a handle on people attempting to abuse our free service here.
