I was looking for ways to get more crypto as a smaller hodler and that is how I ended up on www.Steemit.com a couple months ago. Steemit is a social media platform based on the STEEM blockchain, that pays you in STEEM and STEEM dollars (SBD) if people like/upvote your posts. I won't go into the details here, if you're interested you can look it up, but you can sell STEEM and SBD on both Bittrex and Poloniex for Bitcoin, and from then on you can buy whatever you want of course.
While a ton of people are doing at-home desktop mining for pennies (at most) a day, I am currently making about $10-15 a week in STEEM tokens and have made between $200-250 (hard to track, I cash out weekly and buy other stuff). And I never put a single penny in ever. All I have to do is just write about crypto, like I do anyway (a post like this is an example that could make me money if I posted it on Steemit). But it pays even better if you write about other stuff because crypto is oversaturated already. I post about 2-3 times a day, but also comment a lot on other people's posts.
It does take some time and dedication to get anywhere. It's not 'free money' in that way. If you try to game the system or put no effort in it, people will notice and it won't get you far. The first month you will be making pennies, not dollars, and in order to make the platform work you shouldn't be cashing any STEEM Power out in the first period. Focus on getting (sincere) followers first, who will hopefully upvote you. Connect with whales, one upvote from them could be worth several dollars. And don't give up too easy, because profits increase over time but it does start out very slow and is frustrating.
My goal was always to cash out and buy Bitcoin, which is what I have been doing for about 50% of the earnings. The other 50% is kept in the system because the more you leave in, the more effectively you will be able to earn. So I've unwillingly become a STEEM hodler too, but I don't mind, because I now see it as a valuable asset that produces crypto funds for me.
So even if you don't care at all about STEEM, why aren't you on Steemit and using the earnings to buy whatever crypto do do like?
