Another name for Orion is Plow. On Christmas Day, this constellation seems to "lie" above the horizon. The ancient Slavs explained the appearance of the constellation Plow in the sky as the beginning of the work of the heavenly blacksmith (the god Svarog.
SVAROG God of the sky, the patron of blacksmiths, and also the father of a whole bunch of children. He forges weapons for other gods, using the fire of his son Dazhbog) on the manufacture of the symbolic Golden Plow. At Christmas, the heavenly Plow falls to Earth as a gift to people from God. According to legend, the Slavs learned to cultivate the land with the Golden Plow of Svarog in ancient times. 3 This is connected with the ceremony of bringing a plow or any of its parts into the house on the evening before Christmas.
