Many people have probably heard of the Big Bang, a theory about the origin and evolution of the universe. It was first proposed in 1927 by Georges Lemaître, a Belgian Catholic priest and physicist. He suggested that the universe began expanding from an extremely hot and dense state. In 1964, two engineers at Bell Labs in New Jersey, USA, made observations that helped confirm the theory. Their findings supported the idea that the universe is still expanding, with galaxies moving away from us in all directions and more distant galaxies moving away faster. However, the first time the Big Bang entered my life was through an American sitcom called The Big Bang Theory. One of the main characters is a theoretical physicist, but that's about as far as my knowledge of physics goes. It's simply a sitcom, nothing too scientific. I didn't like the show at first, but over the years, it became more and more popular, so I decided to give it another try. After getting through the initial adjustment period, I gradually grew to love it. The show ran for a total of 12 seasons and became a huge hit. But for fans of Korean pop culture, BIGBANG is more than just a K-pop group. Apparently, their music has become an unforgettable part of many people's youth.
In recent years, Korean pop culture has taken the world by storm. New groups keep debuting in the Korean entertainment industry, with boy bands and girl groups each bringing their own style and charm. Every so often, another group or solo artist comes along and captures everyone's attention. Yet BIGBANG somehow never seems to disappear from the public eye. Recently, pop-up events have been popping up everywhere to build excitement for their upcoming concert. Fans have to line up to get a numbered ticket just to enter the pop-up stores, and many limited-edition items have already sold out. I saw a simple city-exclusive T-shirt priced at NT$1,380. Good grief! A similar plain T-shirt might cost only NT$100 to NT$200. That's one heck of a price difference!
Judging by how well the merchandise is selling, though, there seems to be no shortage of fans willing to pay those prices. Since the creative park is right next to the concert venue, crowds are already starting to show up, even during off-peak hours. There are also two warehouse spaces that have been turned into pop-up stores. Just imagine how much busier the area will get once the concerts begin. BIGBANG is really coming, and the excitement is building! As for concert tickets, the cheapest ones cost NT$2,980, while the most expensive VIP tickets go for NT$9,430. No wonder celebrities can make so much money! When I was younger, I would have loved this kind of lively event, sharing an unforgettable experience with friends. So I can already imagine what BIGBANG's arrival will bring: the whole area around the park is going to be absolutely buzzing, along with plenty of business opportunities for local shops and vendors.
