我常逛的文創園區，除了各式各樣的期間限定快閃店值得一逛之外，也常有週末才有的市集，街頭藝人的表演倒是較少，不過，可能是因為暑假期間，有空的學生較多，學生除了暑期打空之外，也有一些學生會考慮賣藝賺錢，對於市集活動來說，表演活動能聚集人氣，對於市集只有好處、沒有壞處，對於策展方而言，自然是希望人氣越高越好。
這一天，我逛市集時，發現有一家攤位主打手繪肖像，攤位前擺著幾幅完成的作品，吸引不少人停下來欣賞，我看了一下價錢，快速作畫是五百元台幣，細節作畫是七百元台幣，你與寵物一同入畫是八百元台幣，收藏版肖像畫則是一千兩百元台幣，這種現場作畫還蠻有吸引力的，畢竟不是單純買一幅畫，而是可以親眼看著畫家從一張空白的紙開始，一筆一畫把人物的樣貌慢慢呈現出來。
後來我在一家販賣二手衣的攤位前，也停留了好一陣子，原本我也沒有特別想買衣服，只是抱著隨意逛逛的心情，看看有沒有什麼好玩有趣的東西，我仔細翻了一輪後，居然發現有些衣服只要幾十元台幣，價格真的相當便宜，更有趣的是，這些便宜衣服的設計還滿特別，有些甚至比一般平價服飾店裡看到的款式更有特色，至於它們是不是知名品牌的二手衣，我就真的不太確定了，這種挖到寶的快樂，讓我很有成就感。
在市集周邊歌唱表演的表演者，也吸引不少路人圍觀，原本我只是路過，並沒有打算特別停下來觀看，不過，當熟悉的旋律從音響中傳出來時，我的腳步卻不自覺地慢了下來，畢竟，突然聽到自己熟悉的歌曲，多少還是會勾起一些記憶，也讓我忍不住想多聽幾分鐘，我猜，現場不少路人應該也是抱著和我一樣的心情，歌曲一首接著一首，有些人拿出手機錄影，有些人則跟著音樂輕輕哼唱，現場氣氛相當輕鬆，幾首熟悉的歌曲演唱完畢後，表演者接著演唱幾首自行創作的作品，是個有才華的表演團體，對這些街頭表演者來說，市集或許不只是表演的場所，也是讓更多陌生人認識自己、認識自己音樂作品的一個機會吧。
The creative park I often visit is usually worth checking out, not only because it has all kinds of limited-time pop-up stores, but also because there are often weekend-only markets. Street performances are actually not that common there, but maybe because it was summer vacation, there were more students with free time. Besides taking summer jobs, some students also consider performing on the street to make a little extra money. For a market event, having live performances is definitely a good thing because they can attract more people and create a livelier atmosphere. There’s really no downside to it. From the organizers’ point of view, the more people they can attract, the better.
While I was walking around the market, I noticed a booth specializing in hand-drawn portraits. There were several finished drawings displayed in front of the booth, and quite a few people had stopped to take a look. I checked the price list, and a quick sketch cost NT$500, while a more detailed portrait was NT$700. If you wanted to have yourself drawn together with your pet, it was NT$800, and a more elaborate collector’s edition portrait cost NT$1,200. I thought having a portrait drawn on the spot was pretty appealing. After all, you’re not simply buying a finished picture. You actually get to watch the artist start with a blank sheet of paper and slowly bring someone’s face to life, one stroke at a time.
Later, I also spent quite a bit of time at a secondhand clothing booth. I wasn’t really planning to buy any clothes. I was just browsing around, hoping to find something interesting or unusual. After going through the racks, I was surprised to find that some of the clothes were only a few dozen NT dollars, which was really cheap. What was even more interesting was that some of these inexpensive clothes had pretty unique designs. In fact, some of them looked more interesting than the clothes I usually see at regular budget clothing stores. As for whether any of them were from well-known brands, I honestly wasn’t sure. I’m not really an expert when it comes to brands. Still, that’s part of the fun of shopping for secondhand clothes. Finding something special at a really low price gives you a pretty satisfying feeling, almost like you’ve discovered a hidden treasure.
There was also a group of singers performing near the market, and they attracted quite a few people who stopped to watch. At first, I was just passing by and had no intention of stopping, but when I heard a familiar song coming from the speakers, I naturally slowed down. After all, hearing a song you know can bring back certain memories, and it made me want to stay and listen for a few more minutes. I guess quite a few people there felt the same way. One song followed another, and some people took out their phones to record the performance, while others quietly sang along with the music. The atmosphere was really relaxed and enjoyable. After performing several familiar songs, the group moved on to a few original songs of their own. That was when I realized they were actually a pretty talented group. For these street performers, a market isn’t just a place to perform. It’s also a great opportunity to introduce themselves, share their music, and let more strangers discover their work. I think that’s one of the most interesting things about street performances. You never know who might stop and listen, and someone who was just casually walking by might end up becoming a new fan.
