It is already three days that had passed and I am a little late to write a post update about my personal worldbuilding project. I want to keep a steady streak to keep my momentum going and never slack. Today I want to show you what I had been designing for the past few days. Finalizing the details for my fifth kin. It could take longer depending on maybe I was overthinking or overanalyzing leading to what we often call analysis paralysis LOL. Am I guilty?
So here it is although still a work in progress which is taking me longer than usual. There are some decisions to be finalized about what the character really is and it's kind of kin, which I finally decided to be called, the Borival. , I have not checked yet nor made a due diligence about that word what matters is I got something going. This young furry character does not have a name yet and this is taking forever for me to finish. Anyway the Borival character and kin are living alongside the previous first four kin on the same snowy environment but these are from the north where the Sarebori or northern lights are. Well there's two new words added to the Conlang now (borival and sarebori) That's a win already.
Looking at this line drawing it is clear that I like to design a character with antlers. This will differentiate it from my already existing furry and scarf wearing creatures. If LohummTi from the koggu kin is a scout harvesting yld'ka or star iron, the borival in general are about the northern lights. This is a young character like LohummTi they could be friends and look at his small velvety horns. For the outfit I am thinking about long pants or overall and a short vest made of hide. A belt or sash is always needed for their satchels or tools. I am giving him longer legs shorter snout and narrow shoulders because he is still young. At this point I am debating whether to use a scarf or cloak for warmth purposes during the coldest days
Enough of the indecisive moments let's talk about his base colors. I chose the colors of a deer in warm beige and orangey red. I think this made me calmer knowing that I like it at this point and I would not want to slack off just keeping it up
After a few edits I settled with these four additional details: the brown furry material that wraps around his neck and drapes like a cloak. A nice contrasting pattern would be nice. I'm not sure yet whether to break that into a scarf and cloak or make it a one big soft fur that could be a blanket and a sheath. I gave him this piece of awl made out of petrified wood or could be bones. Very straightforward and simple design that he could use as a needle or something to poke the ice with when searching, it is neatly tuck in his sash or belt I think that's a really nice detail. I made the vest look organic and a little frayed on the edges to avoid it looking like mall clothes LOL. I gave him a leather satchel which hangs by the waist. I didn't finalize it yet maybe it could be a musical instrument since the borival listen to the song of the Sarebori you know that kind of idea.
