From left to right: Sana a Tselo, LohummTi a Koggu, Varrumah a Shuvok, Myrrku a baby Shuvok, Guvru a Thummok
I've expanded the Nivukti lexicon with four kin which are distinct lineages recognized throughout the clans. Each kin reflects its own natural strengths, traditions, and potential role within Nivukti culture.
1. Koggu /ˈkog.gu/ n.
Etymology: Ancient Nivukti word of uncertain origin, preserved from the earliest clan traditions.
Definition: One of the Nivukti kin. Light footed and sharp eyed, known for balance, silence, and awareness.
Koggu read the land, the sky, and the smallest shift in winter before others notice it. Scouts, pathfinders, and watch keepers by natural talent, they seek Yld'ka and prepare star charts and safe ways for the clan. Always curious, they are often the first to step into the unknown.
Example: LohummTi, a young scout of the clan.
2. Shuvok /ˈshu.vok/ n.
Etymology: Derived from an old Nivukti root associated with enduring winter winds and steadfast travel.
Definition: One of the Nivukti kin. Strong and enduring, known for leadership, rhythm, and long haul travel.
Shuvok carry heavy loads across endless white horizons. They lead the sled lines, keep the pace, and uphold the ancient Thrum Songs that keeps every expedition into a single rhythm. When huveki grips the land and the wind howls, the Shuvok stand firm, guiding the clan.
Examples: Varrumah, leader of the sled haulers and Thrum Singers; Myrrku, a young nunu still learning the songs.
3. Tselo /ˈtse.lo/ n.
Etymology: An ancient word traditionally associated with moonlit journeys and graceful movement across fresh snow.
Definition: One of the Nivukti kin. Swift and far-hearing, known for memory, rune craft, and lunar ways.
Tselo hear what others cannot like the crack of distant ice, the breath of change beneath the huve, and the messages carried by the winter wind. They keep Moon Runes, bind words to meaning, and preserve paths.
Example: Sana, keeper of Moon Runes and the arts of binding.
4. Thummok /ˈthum.mok/ n.
Etymology: Believed to descend from an ancient word describing a winding movement beneath frozen ground.
Definition: One of the Nivukti kin. Slender bodied and meticulous, known for persistence and precision.
Thummok go where huve locks the world. They mend what breaks unseen, and recover what others believe is lost. Patient, quiet, and precise, they are trusted wherever careful hands and unwavering determination are required.
Example: Guvru, a skilled Thummok trusted with the hidden ways.
I got more kin, vocabulary, and worldbuilding entries that are already in development as the Nivukti lexicon continues to grow.
Below are some of the progress photos, the characters I had previously finished and just grouped together and placed in one canvas
The image above shows the binary moon on the background and the deep winter freeze (huveki)
Here I added shadows and the light source to make the images pop against the endless dark winter skies
Starting with a white background makes the characters look random but after adding the environment everything became one cohesive look
