A number of members of the community accuse the Steemit management of the fact that the project is a pyramid. The main argument in favor of this, according to users, is a possible mock attack of a social network in mid-July.
Recall that on the night of 14 to 15 July, the decentralized social network Steemit was attacked: about 260 accounts were hacked and a little less than $ 85,000 was stolen in the Steem and Steem Dollars tokens.
This event gave rise to a lot of assumptions about who was behind the attack. A number of users even accused the administration of the network of this. One of the most authoritative representatives of this group is an employee of the publication bravenewcoin.com Ton Weiss.
So, in the group "cryptocurrencycollectorsclub" in the social network Facebook, he left a message in which he stated that he considered Steemit "a Ponzi scheme" and boycotted it.
One of the users of the network, hiding under the nickname keirhsmih, responded to this charge with a deployed post, in which he cited 10 arguments in favor of the fact that Steemit can not be considered a fraudulent scheme.
The beta version of the Steemit platform was released in May this year. Users of this social network can receive a reward in the crypto currency for their publications.
When Steemit was launched, its founders, Daniel Larimer and Ned Scott, explained that the network would be managed using a blockbuster and use its own crypto currency, which would be transferred to users as remuneration for posts, comments, etc. The users are paid in the transitional currency Steem Power and Steem Dollar, which can be exchanged for US dollars.
