What I’ve learned over the past few months is that he rarely gets into crypto and blockchain on his shows or in his public talks. He scratches the surface level but never anything deep.

Last night as I listened to an audio reading of the Steemit whitepapers I was excited about how disruptive and positive a platform like Steemit is to the social media space.

As someone who has watched Gary go gung-ho about Meerkat, Anchor and a host of experimental social media. I’m amazed at how little he talks about blockchain. He always says that he daytrades on attention but as a social media expert when has anyone heard him touch on Steemit? Has he ever mentioned it?

Steemit has and continues to grow in popularity and it’s unlike any other social media experiment out there. I’m going to say that Gary needs to be challenged on going in depth on this platform because this is his space. It’s not just currency or assets or a distant technology. This is social media ! It’s social media that people are using and seeing equal or more value in than Facebook, Youtube, IG, and the major platforms out there.

I don’t need to go into all the ways Steemit is amazing and is a complete game changer but Gary does need to get into it as the social media “guru” of our day.

If Gary puts something like Steemit at the periphery of his commentary and fails to bring the same inspirational and energetic perspective he does to the major platforms I’d say not only is he missing an opportunity he is allowing the possibility of someone else coming along and being the Gary Vaynerchuk of Steemit and blockchain social media which more and more people are discovering everyday.

People are bringing value, becoming entrepreneurs, making money, dodging the advertising companies, showing the flaws of the bigger social media titans, and doing it without censorship. Steemit should be right up Gary’s alley. But like I said, I see it as a seat that someone else has the potential to step into if he doesn’t.
