I've made crypto purchases in the past. All of them were converted to fiat in some way (either bank transfer or crypto-funded prepaid cards). I've bought a PS4, a mobile phone, vaping supplies etc.
As I'm starting to depend somewhat on my crypto to live (as I quit my job last month) I'm trying to find ways to spend them. I needed shoes. My old ones are almost torn apart, and it was time to find and buy a new pair.
So, I was searching for retailers accepting crypto (either in store in Thessaloniki, or online). Ordering from a Greek shop was a must, as I needed them ASAP. I ordered from a store in Ilion, Athens named "MyBrand Shoes". The store has a great variety of brands, not just shoes though. They have other stuff too.
The payment was handled by bitpay. I've just received the shoes from the courier, and I'm going on a walk to try them!
Shoes are the only thing I spend moeny on. Other clothes? If it's cheap and it fits, it is great. But shoes? I have problems with my feet so I've got to wear foam soles, and I've settled on Skechers in the past 4 years as they are very lightweight as well.
It's great seeing the stores in Greece slowly embracing Bitcoin. However, it would be even greater if they start accepting more cryptos and not only Bitcoin. With a payment processor that coverts the funds directly to fiat currency, they've got nothing to lose if they don't want to keep the crypto! But hey... Baby steps!
