Say what you will, but most people treat themselves with sympathy and understanding.
From the childhood the most unbearable feeling for me was pang of guilt. This "management instrument" is very popular from the Soviet Union times and till nowadays is popular in many organizations and families.
To avoid this feeling, the psyche start to learn the protection mechanism, which can make convince ourselves sure, that this is not our responsibility.
This mechanism contains three different ways, differentiated by the the personal level of assertiveness and active or passive life position.
"It's all your fault!" (It's all fault of government, boss etc.)
This way to skip the ownership is preferred by high asserted and active persons. If I found the causes of my troubles in the outside world, I will think and communicate my position, in order do not let the pang of guilt rise in myself.
"Not we such - life is such..."
this evasion of responsibility is used by persons with low level of assertiveness and passive life position. This way is helpful to use, when we facing something, which is completely out of our control. But, when using it in the everyday life, it is risk to forget that we ourselves write the play of our life.
"It is all my fault!" -
what is wrong with this phrase in the ownership terms? Seems like the responsibility is accepted. But the weakness of this position is in the word "fault". Because feeling of the fault stops the activity and turn-on self-flagellation, directs the energy charged into the person. If use this energy in a different way, it should be said as "It all the results of my actions/inactions"
These protection mechanisms is learned by us from the childhood. It is very important to be attentive to own behaviour, in order to determine, which of our blames, despairs and self-condemnations are truth, and which just our way to skip the ownership.
