We have the same setup D80 + 60mm nikons. :)
I upgraded to D7100. and still use the 60mm lens. it made the photo 24megapix. since D80 is 10megapix. Result on macro in my opinion did not really improved a lot with my D7100. and i think D80 even focus faster with 60mm f2.8D lens.
