HABITICA | A Productivity App Like a Game? + Tips To Get You Started [ENG/ESP]
Hello Hive players, DigitalDicast greets you in a new post for my blog!
Currently, in smartphones there are many productivity apps, applications that help you to be a better person both physically and mentally, in addition to serving you to be more effective with daily tasks, and while these applications are quite useful, few (if any) get to be as fun and entertaining as Habitica, the best productivity video game.
In this post you will see a review about an amazing app to keep up with your daily tasks with more fun and not get bored, besides being a great app to chat with friends and complete tasks together, with nothing more to say, let's get started!
Technical Data Sheet
- Platform: PC, Android and any machine that can browse the internet.
- Genre: Productivity App
- Release Date: January 30, 2013
- Developer: HabitRPG. Inc
What is Habitica?
Habitica is a very creative productivity application that brings the mechanics of feeling like you are in an RPG where real life tasks can be transformed into in-game missions, here you can customize your character, add equipment, pets, talk to people, be in a guild and show it off on social networks.
Habitica was created in 2013 by a small group of developers who had a vision, which was to make a way to change things, this would be to turn tasks into in-game acts/missions, this to encourage people to keep doing them and not get demotivated.
Tasks and Habits
For this you have to do the tasks, which are divided into three types of tasks: Pending, Habits and Daily.
Daily Tasks: Daily Tasks are the ones you have to do every day and should not overlook, such as doing the dishes, brushing your teeth, making your bed when you wake up, bathing, and typical things. (They can also be tasks which do not necessarily have to be physical, such as commenting on 3 Hive articles a day, writing 100 words a day in a draft or updating your Twitter status.)
Pending Tasks: These are tasks that you only have to accomplish once and that you have to do within a time frame set by you, in this category fall into: high school assignments, job interviews, a date (7u7), a night out with friends, etc.
Habits: As the name implies, these are habits that you have to comply with or want to ignore, this list includes good habits, bad habits and habits in between. Every time you do a good habit, you hit the blue button, and every time you do a bad habit, you hit the red button. Simple, isn't it?

However, you cannot abuse this mechanic, since the game is not about being the best in the application, but about improving your habits in real life, and although you can have infinite exp and objects just by pressing a button repeatedly, this takes the fun out of the game, if you want to do it, but you will see that in the end you will feel empty (situation that happened to a friend).
But Digital, what do I get if I do all my tasks? Well, easy, gold.
The Store
Gold is used to buy things in the store, it can be equipment, eggs, quests, weapons, or whatever you want to put! Since in the store you can set your own goals/objectives, from buying a PC, headphones and clothes to something as simple as 8 cookies, 1 hour and a half with video games or 20 minutes of rest, you can put things you always wanted, and you could redeem them with your effort, like before when your parents gave you things for getting good grades, something like that.

That's not all, because now comes the social part of the App.
Guilds, Teams, Challenges ¡And More!
In the app there are guilds, teams and groups, as well as challenges, yes, I know you are a bit overwhelmed and maybe what I just mentioned sounds like they are the same thing, but don't worry let me explain:
The guilds are the chats where you can talk with people from different parts of the world who, like you, follow the journey to be better people, the guilds are usually specified in a topic, such as reading, music, anime, video games and many, many more topics (there are also guilds that are by language, which are not specified in a topic, but seek to attract people of the same language to talk about everything a little).

Then there are the challenges, one of the most entertaining sections of this app/website, in this section users can set productivity challenges for people to meet, they can see the progress of each person through the app to finally reward the most productive or simply raffle the prize, which would be diamonds (or gems) with which you can buy purely cosmetic premium items that make you look great, and you can boast that you are a very responsible person.
Screenshot taken from my PC
These challenges can be linked to guilds or teams, but... What are teams?
The teams are the groups where you have fights with the bosses to win great rewards (like gold and equipment), you battle with the bosses by doing the quests which you can get in the store chest, buy them in the market or win them by defeating different bosses.
Some of the bosses come with a specific theme that makes you feel like you are fighting those bad habits, such as dust bunnies, stress eclipses, snakes made of to-do lists, among others!
To attack them, you just have to do your daily tasks, to-dos and daily habits, this together with all your teammates hurts the boss and makes it weaken, and you win the battle, so the loot is distributed among all, and you can win from exclusive weapons to thousands of gold coins to spend in your personal store or in new equipment (which is not considered p2w, since they are battles against bosses and not with other players).
And finally there are the groups (which are very different from the previous ones) in which (redundancy aside) you create a group exclusively for your friends or coworkers, the groups are for people who are in a project together and need to have everything under control, as the groups offer team tasks, task verification, plus they also bring benefits in the game as an exclusive pet, convert coins to gems and more! This mechanic is paid and costs $10 to create the group, plus $3 for each member you add.

Now let's talk about Habitica's monthly subscription, which I recommend ONLY if you really love the app and have enough money to be able to support the developers.
Monthly Subscription
This subscription is made to support the developers of the application and consists of offering you exclusive items and some extras for you to have a great time in the application, which are as follows here
the application allows you to give away a subscription to any user of the platform, this is quite good for those who love to do challenges and for those who also participate in them, as you could earn a subscription just by being productive every day.
the subscription can be paid with PayPal and credit card if you're on a computer, and if you're on a phone you can pay with whatever payment methods the app store has on hand (like Google Play balance on Android, for example)
I've personally thought about buying the subscription a couple of times - well, what am I lying to you, I've thought about buying the subscription a THOUSAND times, as it offers a lot of cool stuff, but since it doesn't actually affect (and doesn't block) Habitica's main features, I'd rather earn it in a challenge, so I feel more rewarded for my good habits, although in the future I might buy it.
Conclusion
Anyway, this has been my review of this great application to improve our productivity, I assure you that you will have a lot of fun, I advise you to get into the guilds of the topics that interest you and join a Habitica group as soon as possible, this to have the perfect experience without paying anything to the application.

- Platforma: PC, Android and any machine that can browse the internet.
- Género: Productivity App
- Fecha de Lanzamiento: January 30, 2013
- Desarrolladora: HabitRPG. Inc
¿Simple, no?
