I was in Aarhus in May this year primarily to see the paintings that are part of the 17 Walls project. But when we wandered around the streets of the inner city of Aarhus to find all 17, we came across a number of other murals. This is a few of what we saw. I don't know who all the artists are, but some of them are quite good.
As you can see, it wasn't easy to get to see the whole painting. It's painted on a gable, which makes part of it are hidden by the roof of the neighboring house. So we tried to go into the backyard. That was better.
We found this mural inside a backyard. Beautiful painting. The girl seems to be together with the fish. It's not a regular wall it's painted on either, but glass walls.
We are now at the waterfront in Aarhus, where we had to look at the portrait from a distance. It is impossible to get there. The building is right at the edge of the water and a working area closed to the pupblic. If we had wanted to get close, we would have to be in a boat.
The title of this mural is «Måkekysset» which in English means something like «Seagull kissed». The artist is Hans Krull. He is a Danish artist born in 1952 a known graphic artist who is also a painter and a sculptor. His artistic education was completed at Aarhus Art Academy from 1969 -1970. His is connected to Aarhus in many ways, but mostly because of his long career and the large amount of murals he has painted in here. He also did one of the murals that is part of 17 Walls. In colaboration with Peter Birk they did the painting that is inspired by global goal «Sustainable cities and communities»
An upside down person! Here one can only try to guess what the artist meant by this. Any suggestions?
