When I was in Aarhus, Denmark in May this year, it was because I wanted to walk around to find the murals that are part of the17 Walls project. Those of you who has followed my posts about the 17 murals, might remember that Danish artist Peter Birk is one of the artists. In colaboration with fellow artist Hans Krull ( also Danish), they did a mural inspiret by global goal number 11. While walking around Aarhus to find the murals that are part of this project, I saw several works by Peter Birk. It was completely coincidental that we came across these two.
Birk, a self taught artist, was born in 1985 in a place called Hedensted. He was known in the graffiti community and for many years it was graffiti that was his main focus. He was deeply serious about it though, which made him well-known not only in Denmark, but also abroad. Since the day he started, he has become a well established artist. It has made his name recognized on the street art scene.
When he works, it is often with motifs repeating themselves. We can recognze that in both of these works. It can be anything from jars to mountains though. On the project with the UNs 17 sustainable goals, he was working in colaboration with Hans Oldau Krull. But that is not the only work these two have worked on together. They have been painting large paintings in Aarhus. Besides painting, he is also the co-owner of a gallery named Galleri Grisk.
