In the ongoing struggle of Steemit vs Hive I'm beginning to wonder how this affects all the Popolo Piccolo and is it worth jumping ship? When I first joined Steemit, is billed as rewarding so-called 'Good Content' I soon learned that that was total cows droppings and all that matters is how many votes you get. In my time I've seen things such as simply reposting a Dtube video earn eye-watering rewards while a post that looks like it took the author four or five hours to produce has earned just a few cents. Of course, those at the top of the food chain will assure you that all you need is a rich benefactor or Whale to drop a big vote on you, this may well have happened in the early days of Steem but hasn't happened for years in my opinion.
Everyone has their opinions as to what has gone on, with accusations of 'Takeovers', thefts and strongarm tactics. My personal view, which I've repeated so often now it's become boring, is that it was purely and simply about who owned Steem/Steemit. So with that in mind, a group of influential former Steemians created Hive and told everyone it was really bad to stay on Steemit and that a brave new world awaited everyone who dumped their SBD & STEEM and converted to Hiveism. I came to Hive slightly later than most it was more a Giving in than any moral decision and I started to Powerdown over at Steemit with a view to, as advised, transfer my funds to Hive. Rather than just jumping in head first, I thought it would be a good idea to move small amounts basically to see how things pan out and began posting on Hive.
I've not written vast amounts on Hive, but supposedly I already have 1976 Followers however, I suspect these are just the followers I had on Steemit and the Dev's simply migrated to them to Hive; the trouble is, are those individuals active on Hive? Every former member of Steemit has an account on Hive, and while it was a good idea to simply mirror your account from one service to the other the downside is that if individuals choose to stay with Steemit then I'm not going to get the level of interaction and most importantly votes I get on Steemit.
Back on the 3rd June I wrote a piece titled Cluster Hat with Docker Swarm and posted it to Hive. In my opinion, it was the first 'Good Content' I'd submitted to Hive. With the promises of a better community dedicated to its members, I sat back and waited for the accolades to start rolling in. Three days went by and, to my horror, the piece had aroused the communities attention to a paltry $0.19 for three hours work! True, the formatting was diabolical because I sent the content from my Wordpress site, but the content was still there and readable.
I've been monitoring my Steemit account and even though I hadn't submitted anything since 16/3/20 I was still getting a steady stream of rewards from the platform. Nothing that would pay off my mortgage but enough to make me check my wallet every other day. With this in mind, I thought I'd do something cheaky; I would clean up the bad formatting to the original Hive post, copy the HTML and post exactly the same content on my Steemit account. This morning (7/6/20) I checked how my despicable venture was doing, and to date, it has earned $1.41 which as you've already worked it out $1.22 more than Hive! It seems to me I might be better off either sticking with Steemit or just duplicate posting.
