I'm newer here and to Hive in general. I can see why some creators may think that there needs to be a change to the reward system. On some of my posts I have received less than 50% of the total because of beneficiaries:

To be clear I am not here to try and advocate for any change to the POB reward system. I am actually extremely pleased with my earnings so far here and across Hive. I merely try to offer a newer members perspective. To a new creator finally getting the first payout or two is a big deal. If they have not done appropriate research- some wont have- they may not realize that the number at the bottom of their posts is not their payout amount but the total rewards pool that will be split. It could be discouraging to realize that a post they believed was going to net them the equivalent of say $50 only to realize it will be less than half that. This is an especially difficult pill to swallow if that creator has struggled to gain any traction- imagine creating multiple posts hoping for a decent payout only to have your $0.50 cut in half each time.

Bad content does not warrant hefty rewards but new creators do need a little help to get started... maybe curation rewards could be reduced for content posted by creators less than a month old... I do not know enough yet to know whether this is worth considering or even viable.

Beyond that many content creators might believe they are the sole actors driving value through the platform- this is especially true if they have migrated from other platforms where they more directly control the monetization of their content via advertising, marketing, or other tools. The difference here is that the community as a whole decides what is valued based on the quality, not just number of views or clicks.

I believe that because curation is such an important part of Hive in order to drive visibility of genuinely high quality content it should be rewarded appropriately. I don't see any issue with sharing the rewards for my posts 50/50. I am certain I would not have been able to earn nearly as much without it... Maybe I would if I hardcore promoted my own content everywhere but I don't think any of us want to do that. That's the beauty of rewarding curation right? I don't have to say "Hey please smash that like button and subscribe with the jingle bell to make sure you get notified when I post next time LOVE YOU GUYS!"
I know that given time I will be generating my fair share of those curation rewards as well. It doesn't make sense to do anything other than stake POB if I intend to continue to create here. At some point in the future I am sure I will need to reassess and consider taking some earnings but that will not be for quite some time.

As for Investors- I recognize the importance of continuing returns for those that have large stake in the platform and the necessity for that pool of liquidity to remain locked in order to continue upward price pressure. This benefits us all and realistically aren't we all investors? The more the platform can encourage users- whether creators, curators, or investors- to keep funds locked into the platform the better off we all are and the greater the potential for growth. Any change that would remove or lessen the incentive to continue actively staking some portion of earnings would have a negative effect on the platform.

As a creator, the goal is to get to the point where I am a creator and curator.

As a curator, the goal is to curate the highest quality content to share a larger reward pool and grow the platform.

As an investor, the goal is to earn consistent passive income- take your pick, curate or create, or both.

The current set up allows entry into any of these and a path to sustainable revenue generation whether you have capital to invest, time to invest, or skills to bring to the table. Or any combination of those. That gets a big thumbs up from me.

Once I have been here a little longer I might have more to say about changing the reward split but from what I have seen so far I think it would be taking on a lot of risk to make changes greater than 5% in any direction. The platform seems to be growing and seems stable to me so far.
