Babies have been defined in so many ways.
My definition of it?, Babies are little humans who haven't learnt how to destroy things in their path.
I wish this edition came when I was back home. I would have had lots of pictures to share even though I know it isn't a necessity but it would have made the point I'm about to make more clearer.

My little brother was born on the twenty fifth of January, 2010.
Now I'm not going to lie. I didn't want him. I felt betrayed by my parents when they announced to the eight year old me that they were having another baby.

How could they?..Was I not pretty enough for them?
Let's just say it wasn't about me. It had been unexpected for them too.
I thought real life was like The Thundermans and I could mail him to another state.
Thankfully I got hit with a dose of reality in time.

I remember the first time I saw him in the hospital. He was so tiny and white with beautiful black curly hair. I heard people joke and say to my parents that he couldn't be their son. Perhaps he was switched.

We took him home and I remember holding back tears whenever they would bath him for the first few weeks.
I don't know if all cultures do it. My baby brother's hands were always turned like they wanted to detach them from him and his body squeezed and pressed that I could almost feel the pain.

Up till now, I don't know why it was done. He would wail until I couldn't take it anymore.
Just like that, months passed and I finally learnt how to change pampers without throwing up.
I loved him, a whole lot. I would lay awake with him singing a song in my mum's language any time he cried.
I even pretended that I could speak baby language so I could communicate with him and he understood what I was saying.

Before I knew it,a year was almost gone and it was time for his first birthday. My mum had a friend that gave birth a month before her.
The baby was already walking.
I heard my mum threatening my little brother a few weeks before his birthday saying if he didn't walk, there would be no birthday celebration for him.

I'm pretty sure he didn't understand her, but to my surprise two days before his birthday, we were all setting up. Next thing, Joshua stood and took his first step.
Actually his first three steps. I didn't think I would actually remember but writing this, I can picture that exact moment.
His hands went up in the air, his mouth was opened and then he went really fast, one,two ,three before he fell to the ground.

That was enough to get everyone cheering. My mum wasn't going to make good on her promise, otherwise we wouldn't have been setting up but I think in a way,he understood and knew that he needed to walk.
His birthday came and he was able to stand and take more steps with his fantastic big sister guiding him.

God!!!!!!

He used to be so adorable. Now he makes me wish I had followed The Thundermans and mailed him to another State.
But I can't help but love him. He's my for life.
I was excited to see him walking, no one told me of the trouble that would come next.

He passed the stage of being a beautiful and wonderful creature, he became the second part of of my definition.
Going around and destroying everything he could find.

More years have flown by now. Even though we fight and I have to numb the urge to strangle him thirty percent of the time, I'm so glad he came along because I don't know how I would have survived picking out clothes to wear.
