A Japanese company at the Tokyo Motor Show has unveiled an innovative design for a "futuristic" car that protects pedestrians and drivers from the risk of shock.
The new FLEXBI developers say it offers a new concept of exterior protection.
The innovative FLEXBI has external airbags that protect its driver, passers-by also from the risk of shock, and self-correcting within moments of any bruising caused by a collision.
"We put the anti-impact airbags in the chassis instead of inside, to protect the whole car," said Takashi Ishikawa, Managing Director of Toyoda Gusi. "We wanted to express our concept of safety"
Apart from its compact size, revolutionary shape and interesting techniques, the FLEXBI is self-contained.
Since there are so many cars that look terrifying from the front, I think its circular shape will change the concept of driving on the roads, "said one visitor.
Although most future car designs do not see the light, the FLEXBI developers say they will build roads by 2030.
