Did you get to open your eyes this morning and get to see the sunrise? God is the one who put that sun there so you could see. Did you get to enjoy lunch today? If you do, that means that you have an appetite which means the Lord gave you the strength to enjoy today. In all things, from the major to the seemingly minor, give thanks to the Lord.
Never listen to the reason of your mind or the inclinations of your heart. Both are born of your natural sin. Listen to your conscience, because it is a gift from God.
Has God given you grace when you deserved wrath? Has He given you mercy when you deserved judgment? Has He made a way where there seemed to be no way? Has God been enough when you knew you were not enough? If He has, then be thankful and bless His name for He is good and His mercy endures forever. He should be the object of all of our worship and praise, because of what He has done, is doing, and will do.
Many times it’s not big things that are keeping us from God’s best, it’s not some big sin, some big mistake, it’s small things. First Peter 3:10 says, “If you want to enjoy life and see good things, then say nothing evil or hurtful.” I wonder how much higher we would go if we would not have to have the last word, not have to be right, not have to make a scene but just quietly keep honoring God, being respectful, and staying on the high road.
When we bring the trouble on ourselves, it’s easy to live in regret thinking that God would never help us. But here’s the beauty, God knew you would mess up before He called you. He didn’t base His plan for your life on you making perfect decisions. God has a plan even for our mistakes.
