I salvage the broken pieces
of dreams unfulfilled,
from the ravages of time.
I glimpsd through morbid
moth eaten memories,
some lost in a maze of anonymity,
others buried in layers of dust
with no one to reclaim them.
A photograph rests in a broken glass case
kissed by cobwebs,
was begging for release
from enforced captivity.
It had blurred as time
slipped away deceitfully.
Where was the blighted past
that could have stood testimony to this?
The heart that bore an incandescent love
now ceased to beat.
As I rummaged through those shadowed memories,
nostalgia crept in;
slithering through the labyrinthine corners
of my perturbed mind.
The blood in my veins thickened
as my heart pulsed on.
There had been a void
_ an emptiness enveloping
my being.
Somehow I felt I had failed
A thread was broken forever.
A deepening gloom
permeated through the room.
How I wished I could turn back time!
