One of my favorite accounts on Steemit is @steemitworldmap. This account curates travel content and they also created an awesome map where people can pin all of their travel stories. It’s great to look at the map, click a place you want to visit and see what other steemians have written about said place. You can also apply filters to the map to see your own pins or to see the stories deemed the best on the map by @steemitworldmap. 14 of my posts have been selected as “best of steemit world map” posts. I am grateful every time. This next post about a visit to one of Vancouver, Canada’s art galleries was my first post added to the best of map. ☺️

Thanks to many nights spent seeing bands, this post was my first to crack $1.00! @illuminati-inc has been good to me this past year. Always finding my music posts and giving them love. I remember being so shocked as my SP jumped thanks to these upvotes.

Another Night, Another Band #1: The Expendables

Let’s talk about #steemsilvergold. This Steemit community is made of up a huge variety of people who all collect or stack precious metals. The people in here range from casual collectors who just find the metals pretty (me), to people who collect metal as one way to diversify their portfolios, to people who think paper money is going to fail so they squirrel away silver and gold to prepare for the financial apocalypse. This group is heavy on testosterone and almost imploded at the start of 2018. But wouldn’t you know I have found my best steemit buddies here. The people of #ssg have supported my posts, they’ve made me laugh all day on discord and have even been there for me through some pretty personal stuff. I wouldn’t be in the group if it weren’t for @thedamus and this next post.

Old Dirty Bars

Another of my favorite initiatives/accounts on steemit is @travelfeed. They have a discord and a committed group of curators who scour the blockchain for quality travel content. Every day the account presents a travel digest highlighting the best travel stories from different corners of the world. I have received lots of love from @travelfeed, and this next post was my first to be highlighted in their travel digest.

Into the Gold Mines

The next post is the most raw and deeply personal thing I ever shared on steemit. It’s funny because I didn’t really “know” anyone back when I wrote this. So maybe there was freedom that came from anonymity? This is also my first post to be curied! Getting curied is the bee’s knees. Thank you @curie for the love this year. 😍

On Not Becoming a Mother

Besides #steemsilvergold, I am lucky to have found some other lovely communities on Steemit including, #steemusa, #teamaustralia and #steemsugars. If you are new to Steemit, finding community here via discord is going to make all the difference to your experience and longevity on the platform. Meet all the people you can, you will surprise yourself by finding some real friends.
