I think your post inspired Summertooth to ask me about the convict history of Australia. Maybe it was just a coincidence? So I recommended he check out “The Fatal Shore” by Robert Hughes. Have you read it?

As for Australia Day. I get it and am also bummed by it. Everyone deserves a fun celebration of their home in the summer.
