The only reason I am still on Hive is because I have met people I engage with on a personal level. So my answer is YES. 😍

You are right though, dangling “engagement carrots” is pretty disingenuous. I remember when Curie would have comment contests. It was nice to get a bunch of involved post comments, but knowing they were there just because of a contest felt weird.

As it is, I have my handful of peeps. People I have connected with off the blockchain (in person, via gift exchanges, or in voice chats), but whose friendship I earned through genuine interaction on the blockchain.

But like the real world, I think there are introverts and extroverts on Hive. So people are going to form these relationships in their own time and way.
