O. M. G.
Today’s mail brought me the MOST RIDICULOUS yet MOST PERFECT (for me) piece of silver I have ever ordered.
. . .
Meet the Stríbrná mince Psí plemena Jezevčík
What does that even mean?
IT IS A COLORIZED DACHSHUND COIN!!!! IN A BOX WITH A G-DAMN C.O.A.!!!
I am SO HAPPY right now! 😂🤣😂
OK, let’s take a short moment to refresh on why this coin is the perfect coin for me.
That pooch is my baby Jasper! He is not so much a baby anymore. He is 11.5 years old… but, he will always be my first baby. I have been dachshund obsessed since going to Germany back in 1998. I love their little sausage bodies, short legs and BIG personalities. We actually have TWO dachshunds. Jasper and his little brother, Kodi (9.5 years old). However, Jasper most resembles the handsome dachshund on my new coin.
Let’s take a closer look at the front of the coin.
On the left we have a colorized red, smooth (short haired) dachshund. To the right, is a silver engraved dachshund. The dachshund is pictured next to a Tyrolean hat (aka a Bavarian hat…. aka traditional hat of the region where dachshunds came to be). You can also see a riffle and downed fox or badger in the background.
Now lots of folks see dachshunds as a comical, oddly proportioned dog. However, the breed was developed to hunt! Dachshunds are able to track with their great sense of smell and they will “go to ground” to catch their prey. This means viciously attacking BADGERS underground in dark burrows. The dachshund’s deep chests gives it plenty of oxygen underground (or under your covers). Their mighty bark can alert hunters to a prey’s location from underground, and the dachshund’s unique shape makes it easier to get into burrows.
Be still my beating heart! The back of the coin has little paw prints!!! 🐾 🐾 The prints are side by side with the prints of their human companion. 😍 Oh, and the Queen is there too. But come on…. PAW PRINTS!!!
The specs on this coin:
- Minted at the Czech Mint for the South Pacific Island of Niue.
- Niue is a self governing state “in free association” with New Zealand, so the coin has a face value of $1.00 NZD. (I spent a lot more than $1 NZD on this coin.) 😄 💰 💰
- The coin has a .999 silver content and a proof finish. The handy dandy airtite container will hopefully keep my treasure sparkling for years to come.
I only came across this coin on a fluke. I was ordering off a popular bullion website, and needed to spend enough money to get free shipping. While scrolling through the options of available coins, I stumbled upon this perfect coin for me!
For my fellow stackers out there, have you ever needed a coin no one else would want? Tell me about it in the comments. 🙂
