Redback Spider
Our first taste of the day comes from the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra, Australia. Behold the Redback Spider. This coin is the first in a new series that will celebrate the deadliest creatures of the Australian continent. Redback spiders are venomous and similar in look to the Black Widow spiders seen in the USA. This coin is made of .999 pure silver and weighs 1 Troy oz.
The obverse of the coin features an image of Queen Elizabeth II. This coin has a face value of $1 AUD. Only 25,000 are minted.
30th Kookaburra
2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the Australian Kookaburra coin series. Each year a new image of this iconic bird has graced the coin. This year, BOTH sides feature different kookaburra images. New for 2020,the coin’s reverse shows the bird perched upon a fence gleefully laughing while the sun rises in the background. The obverse of the coin reintroduces fans to the same image that appeared on the 1990 release! Above the bird is the standard image of Queen Elizabeth II in miniature. The kookaburra series is a product of the Perth Mint. Each coin is 1 Troy oz of .9999 pure silver. It has a face value of $1 AUD and a mintage of 500,000 pieces.
After all that fiesta, it’s time for SIESTA!
HAPPY TUESDAY!
