Three Coins from the Great White North 🇨🇦
A few weeks ago my husband and I popped over the border for a weekend getaway to Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Looking towards a snow covered city from the parking lot of Vancouver’s City Hall
While we were there, I had hoped to check out a couple of coin shops. We had our car, but spent most of our time downtown. So, I googled to find someplace within walking distance of our hotel.
Well wouldn’t you know, EVERY spot google sent us to was closed. Like out of business closed. So, no Canadian coins straight from the source for me. 😭
To make up for it, I picked up a few Canadian beauties after getting home.💰
Coin 1: The Incuse Maple
This piece is just like a regular Canadian maple leaf, except the maple leaf pattern is pressed into the coin! The effect is subtle but looks great. Like other recent Canadian coins, this one is .9999 pure. The face value of the coin is $5 CAD and 250,000 have been minted.
Coin 2: The 30th Anniversary Maple
Released in 2018, this coin commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Canadian maple leaf coin series. Like the incuse maple, the 30th anniversary maple contains .9999 pure silver and was limited to a mintage of 250,000.
I was surprised to learn Canadian maple leaf coins have the highest security of any coin.
According to APMEX:
Each coin features a textured maple leaf security privy mark, micro-engraved and only visible under magnification. Etched within the security mark are two digits showing the coin’s production year. Each engraving is encoded, scanned and recorded at the mint giving each coin a unique Bullion DNA.
Coin 3: Canadian Wildlife Series - Wood Bison
I like this coin a lot. The Wood Bison, released in 2013, is the sixth and final design in the 1oz Canadian Wildlife series. Other animals featured in the series include:
• Cougar
• Wolfe
• Moose
• Pronghorn Antelope
• Grizzly
The mintage of this coin is 1,000,000.
