Devil Gundam: Thigh Scratch Building [Leg Modification - Part 18]

Hi guys!

Today I will start with small check on the thigh I cement yesterday. Then start making the other thigh through the same steps. So here are updates on Project Devil Gundam!

The cement has cured properly overnight and the bond is very strong. If you notice the blue piece need some cleaning.

But because at some point later I will cover this thigh with pla plates then surely add more details.

Cleaning and polishing won't be necessary for this particular spot. So I will leave that uneven surface of the blue piece there.

Since the first thigh has turned out good enough, I will continue onto the other thigh.

I will go through similar steps as I did with the previous thigh. The only difference is the location of the hole/polycaps. This one is going to be the opposite.

First I cement the pla plate onto the connector. As this piece curing and setting, I can use this as a guide to mark where the hole should be.

The hole should be align with the edges of the pla plates and the center should be align with the middle of the polycap.

I couldn't just copy paste from the previous thigh since there might be some slight difference.

I start with marking the exact spot on where the hole should be. Then gradually increasing drill bit size until no longer possible.

After that I used a circular template and scribing pen to mark where the circle should stop. Then manually file the circle.

I'm pretty sure there is a better way to do this step but for now at this point in time. This is the quickest step I can think of with my set of tools.

I've checked the alignment of the hole and the center of the polycap. Then I cement the pla plate in place.

Using 2 types of cement to make sure the bond is strong and the pieces can settle quickly to avoid any misalignment in the process of curing.

Now all I have to do is wait for the cement to cure properly overnight then do a few test fits with the waist.

After this part of the modification is done I will move to making the piston type connector for the thigh and the leg.

The idea is to use a gunpla runer and pla plates to make the piston. However, I still have no clue to how I'm going to achieve this part yet. So I will surely look for inspiration on the internet.
