Devil Gundam: Thigh Scratch Building [Leg Modification - Part 14]

Hi guys!

Today I will continue making the 'box' connector for the scratch build thigh. So here are updates on Project Devil Gundam!

The cement has cured properly overnight. Now all I have to do is trim and clean up the excess using hobby knife/nipper and file.

Tip for using a nipper to on a pla plate: cut it a little bit further so there won't be any stress marks later on the piece/parts.

I've prepped the surface of both connector using file so its smooth and ready to go.

I also lightly sand the top cover of the connector there since I will cement this into the thigh later. So I don't want any bumps on the surface there.

View from the top of the waist while being connected to the connector. So far the modification is working as planned.

And I think the thickness of this connectors is good enough. I imagine with extra 2 mm (1 mm for each side of the thigh), the overall look will still be proportional.

To be honest I could have used the original plastic from the upper leg I split previously but it would take way more work (in my mind) compared to this scratch build box connector.

Although, this scratch build connector will not be as strong as the original one. When embedded into the thigh I imagine the sturdiness will increase slightly. But I will surely test this later.

Using the pla plates strips I prepared yesterday I trim and cement the final batch onto the box connector.

As usual I will leave this overnight to cure properly before doing any further modifications to it. I probably have mentioned this several times before but I used a combination of tamiya cement and thin cement.

The regular tamiya cement will provide strength and the thin cement will help me settle a good position for the piece I'm working on since it dries a lot faster. So play around and you will see what I'm talking about.
