Knee piece
I said that I wasn't going to use this knee piece but I can't help but to clean it a little bit.
Although, as you can see there are quite a bit of scratches there. However, I think just the shape alone will give me an idea on how to detail the leg later or the knee.

Lower part of the leg
Now having cut the half of the first leg piece. I put the leg together just to get an idea on where to cut next.
And think about which part I'm going to split next since I want to do this just one time. Which will be less work and resources.
I think I will go with that back part of the leg since I want to make an articulation for this leg.
So it will need some space for this articulation to work properly. As for the articulation for this back of the leg, I think I will go with a piston like structure just to make it interesting.

Marking with scribing pen
Using scribing pen I started marking the corners on which I will split the pieces into.
I made sure that there is not so much pressure that if I make a mistake there is going to be a big scratch mark on the surface.
Sawing this leg also takes quite a bit of time since I have to make sure I saw with the right angle. And I properly make my stop at the right place.
In terms of execution I just take my time since rushing into this kind of step usually I end up making quite a bit of a mistake.

Test fit (kind of)
I clean up the surface a little bit using file mainly. I don't use any sanding sticks for this since I know at some point later I will do further modification on this particular area.

Just so you know I am planning on cementing these leg piece together to remove the seamline.
However, first I have to make sure that the knee that I'm going to build works good at least with its articulation. Because that is the whole purpose of this modification.

Different angle
At a different angle you can see where I'm going with this modification. The bottom part of the leg will be the center piece.
I will keep that upper leg part for later. Maybe I'll find a use for it later on.
Oh actually! I will cut the small peg on the upper leg since I want to use it to make the upper thigh for this Devil Gundam.
At this angle its a bit hard to see but I will share this with you later. I basically want to repurpose the upper leg into a new scratch build thigh that will have to joints.
One is with the knee and the second on will be with the back of the knee (this is the piston I was talking about earlier). So this is my update for today on this Devil Gundam x Neue Ziel Project.
