Splitting the leg
I will split this leg into several pieces and then I will start modifying from there.
Since I want to keep the big piece (lower leg) I will have to cut this piece in order and carefully.
The next piece I want to keep is that hole where the original connector is going to be seating in. But the rest of that upper leg I probably going to scraped them later.
I will keep the knee for now. Who knows I might some way to use it later.

Getting ready
Now before I start butchering this leg I will have to do some preparation.
First I will need to retrace the whole corner where I am going to split. Using scribing pen is good enough for this step.
Remember the split doesn't have to be super clean and so does this marking process. I just kept a good amount of pressure while doing it several times to make sure the mark is deep enough.

Start splitting the leg
Now that I've left marks all over corner I am going to cut. This will make the saw at least have some kind of grip.
I start with the edges while making a stroke in the direction to the edges so the saw can move freely.
And I can put more pressure into the saw without having to worry about the saw going on the wrong direction.

The big piece
I have to admit cutting the big piece is a little bit messy and there are scratches all over the place.
So I will have to definitely cover this with details later on. But that is for tomorrow to think about. Today my focus is to split this leg as clean as I can.
Because the bottom part is more important I split more on top part of the legs. Also, the knee is a bit messy as well. And so far I haven't thought of what I'm going to do with these scraps.

Having split the leg
As you can see there are 3 parts from this piece. I will use the piece with a hole from the top part there to make a scratch build knee.
Then the later on this modification I will remove the seam line on the leg. So I will cement the legs together when I am sure the knee works as I intended to work.
See those triangle details close to the bottom of the leg? I can't help but to think how am I going to change that detail.
Those triangles are supposed to be 3 dimensional if you check the artwork on the manual. So my brain keep thinking how do I make that possible.
I know I said I will detail this kit later but my brain starts to go into how to mode every time I see some detail I want to change. So those are my updates so far for today.
