Devil Gundam: Making Piston [Leg Modification - Part 20]

Hi guys!

Today I will start making a piston for the back articulation of the leg. So here are updates on Project Devil Gundam!

For scratch building I always start with a sketch. And I'll get the measurement as close as the real one.

Here I made 2 small circles. The big one will be the size of the actual piston.

And the small one will be a guide for the holes where the piston will slide in and out.

I will use this gunpla runer from Devil Gundam kit as the piston itself.

This is the smallest gunpla runer between those 2 kits (Neue Ziel and Devil Gundam). I am going to need 6 of these since 1 set of piston will contain 3 of these rods.

I will trim and clean them up so that they are ready for test fit when the first piston prototype is done.

Following the sketches I made earlier, I started with 1 circle. Marking 2 different size of circles using scribing pen.

I only used scribing pen to mark the outer circle. As the inner circle will be a guide where I marked 3 points for a hole later.

Using the marks I made on the inner circle, I drilled 3 holes. However at a glance they don't seem to be symmetrical.

Depending on how this modification goes, I might going to need a new concept/idea for the piston.

Now using the gunpla runer I cleaned up earlier I can do a test fit with the 3 holes I made on the pla plate.

This first pla plate will the base of the piston. I will have to copy this shape a couple of times then cement them together to form a piston.

And when I say a couple of times it's more like 20 - 24 times. Depending on long I want the piston will be.

I will continue this scratch build tomorrow and do test fits in between them. So this is my updates for today on this Devil Gundam x Neue Ziel Project.
