Hello friends!
Preparing for a baby is certainly a new adventure, especially when it's your first time becoming parents. My husband and I are slowly learning what we need, what we should prepare, and sometimes even discovering things we didn't know existed before!
Recently, we had another little outing together to continue preparing for our baby last Saturday.
Anyway, we have a special nickname for our little one: Peanut. That's what we have been calling our baby throughout this pregnancy. It's our little way of addressing the tiny human growing inside me. ❤️
1. Finding the Perfect Wallpaper for Peanut's Room
Our first destination was a wallpaper shop.
We're planning to prepare Peanut's room, so I wanted to explore some designs and find something that would suit the atmosphere I had imagined.
I prefer neutral colours, soft pastels and cute illustrations rather than something too colourful or overwhelming. The shop had quite an extensive catalogue. There were animal illustrations, little forests, alphabets, stars, clouds, bunnies and even space-themed designs.
One collection that caught my attention was Happy Bunny.
I also explored other collections with adorable animal illustrations.
I spent quite some time comparing patterns and imagining how they would look in Peanut's bedroom. Eventually, I found a design that I really liked.
Even better, we had already found matching curtain fabrics!
Unfortunately, there was a problem.
The wallpaper was out of stock!
The shop couldn't even confirm when they would restock it.
Imagine finding the combination you like, matching the wallpaper with the curtains, and then discovering that you can't actually buy the wallpaper.
Our first mission wasn't successful.
Well, I guess we'll have to continue looking somewhere else or we need another option to decor it.
2. Baby Shop Adventure
Our next destination was a baby shop.
I was actually quite excited because I wanted to explore more baby products, particularly some essentials that we hadn't purchased yet.
However, I have to admit that the store wasn't quite what I had imagined. I was expecting something more like an enormous Babyshop in Surabaya which I had visited before. That store gave me a much better shopping experience, with a wider selection and a more proper baby-shopping atmosphere.
Well, not every shopping trip can meet our expectations, right?
Nevertheless, we still managed to find something adorable for Peanut!
We bought a little blue outfit with the words "Tiny but Mighty" printed on it. Isn't that cute? I thought it was a lovely little outfit for our baby boy.
We also purchased a pair of soft yellow mittens and booties. They will match the yellow bodysuit we already have at home.
I'm starting to imagine how adorable Peanut will look wearing those little clothes. Sometimes, even the smallest baby items can make me feel so excited.
My husband also spent some time exploring the baby products. It was lovely seeing him participate in choosing things for our little one. Although he usually looks rather cool and composed, I think he's gradually getting into the excitement of becoming a father. Wkwkwk!
3. Lunch Break at Pizza Hut
After visiting two shops, it was time for lunch , we decided to have lunch at Pizza Hut.
We ordered several dishes to share, including pizza, lasagna, deluxe beef bruschetta, soup, and salad.
It was a nice little break after walking around and exploring the stores. We enjoyed our lunch together, took some pictures, and simply spent time as a couple.
Pregnancy has certainly changed some of my food preferences. I don't always enjoy sweet foods anymore, and sometimes certain dishes can make me feel nauseous. But having a meal together with my husband is still one of those simple pleasures I appreciate.
Looking at our pictures, I realised that these ordinary moments are actually becoming precious memories too.
Look at my large round belly, my little boy is growing!
4. Another Visit to the Doctor
After lunch, we continued our day by visiting my OB/GYN for another pregnancy checkup.
Of course, the most important thing was making sure Peanut was growing well inside me.
At this stage, Peanut was already around 1 kilogram, with an estimated variation of ±10% according to the ultrasound measurement. Our little boy is growing!
Can you imagine? Just a few months ago, he was still such a tiny little embryo. Now he's growing into a much bigger baby, moving around and making his presence known to Mama every day.
One of the funniest moments during the examination was when the doctor commented about his nose when he checked the USG Fetomaternal result.
Apparently, Peanut's nasal bone measured 7.83 mm!
The doctor had previously commented that Peanut seemed to have a rather prominent nose, saying something along the lines of:
"Wah, bayinya mancung!"
Hahaha! 😂
I wonder whose nose he'll inherit. Papa's or Mama's? We'll find out when he finally arrives!
Most importantly, the doctor checked his development and the things that needed to be monitored. Seeing him growing and developing well is always reassuring. And the result was totally good.
Well, every ultrasound appointment gives us another little glimpse of the baby we haven't met yet.
My adorable baby 😍
Looking back, the day wasn't exactly perfect.
We couldn't get the wallpaper we wanted, the baby shop didn't meet my expectations, and we still have quite a few things left on our preparation list. But we did bring home a few more little things for Peanut, enjoyed a meal together, and most importantly, got to see how our little boy was growing.
I suppose preparing for a baby is also about learning to enjoy the process.
Not everything has to happen according to plan. Sometimes we need to explore different places, change our minds, make compromises and try again.
There are still plenty of things to prepare, including his crib, mattress, wardrobe and the final arrangement of his bedroom.
Little by little, we'll get there.
Herere some of the stuffs i prepared him, and i still expand it wkwk.
This is a completely new chapter for both of us. We've never been parents before, so we're learning as we go. There will probably be more funny moments, unexpected situations, little mistakes and exciting discoveries along the way.
But that's part of the adventure, isn't it?
Dear Peanut,
You haven't arrived yet, but you've already become such a big part of our lives.
Papa and Mama are learning, preparing, and getting excited to meet you.
Keep growing well inside Mama.
We can't wait to hold you in our arms. See you soon, our little boy. 💙
