Internet has done this to people. They realized they can accomplish so many things in short time. I remember my grandfather once said, if we could get out of our own city we consider that accomplishment. Today we can do that easily.
I think the case is that people eat each others time so that they can feel relevant. I have met some of the people from the back generation, they value the offline world more than online. But with metaverse and virtual world with AI soon we will live the world which we could not in real world.
I guess then the time vampire thing won't stay long once the metaverse starts to make sense in context of profit for the corporations. We are getting there. Google "metahuman" and you can see we are going to that world soon.
Imagine hive gets integrated into one such world.
